Peter W. Daniel practices family law and civil litigation. The family law practice includes marriage dissolution (commonly known as divorce), child custody disputes, child and spousal support, property division, domestic partnerships and pre-nuptial consultation. The civil practice includes lawsuits on behalf of plaintiffs and defendants, contract review, and negotiations of all kinds. Each of Peter's cases is unique, and Peter employs creativity, insight and a hands-on style to best achieve the goals of his clients in resolving difficult disputes. Peter works with each client to develop individualized strategies and effective tactics to give the client the best chance to achieve the client's goals. Whether preparing for trial, settling a dispute or simply giving legal advice, Peter combines a strong knowledge of substantive law, and the ability to apply procedural tools, and a keen understanding of the human condition to solve difficult problems with an eye on the bottom line.
Some of Peter's cases are resolved in mediation, some through collaboration, and some through litigation. Peter is very comfortable in all disciplines.
Peter's work history has also included the areas of employment law, personal injury defense, environmental law, contract law, admiralty law, bankruptcy, immigration law, municipal law, and estate planning. This experience allows Peter to assess legal questions from a well-rounded perspective. He has represented clients ranging from individuals to businesses and non-profit organizations in state and federal courts and administrative bodies. Peter has appeared as an expert legal panelist answering questions from radio listeners live on the air. He has also lectured to professional organizations on a variety of legal issues.
Peter is licensed to practice in California, and he is admitted to practice in all Courts of the State of California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been practicing law since 1995. He is a 1995 graduate of Golden Gate University School of Law, where he earned a Certificate of Specialization in Environmental Law. He is a 1991 graduate of UC Berkeley where he majored in history. He lives on the Peninsula with his wife and two daughters.
